- Shapes: single, semi-double, double, rose-like, anemone or peony form
- Size: usually 5–12 cm in diameter
- Colors: white, pale pink, bright pink, red, or bicolor
- Petals: thick, satin-like, slightly waxy

- Camellia japonica: late winter to spring (Feb–Apr)
- Camellia sasanqua: autumn to early winter (Oct–Dec)
